What’s CBD Oil?
Undoubtedly, CBD oil is nowadays one of the most talked-about wellness products. If you happen to live in a place where it has been legalized, you can be under the impression that CBD seems to be everywhere. Beauty and skincare companies offer CBD facial and body, Coffee places offer CBD lattes and other CBD concoctions, spas offer CBD facials. And everybody seems to be consuming from CBD gummies to CBD drinks.
But even though CBD oil is virtually everywhere in the world of health and wellness, many people still think CBD is a bit confusing, especially when trying to figure out how to use it correctly and how to make sure that the substance they’re buying is legit. CBD is the short name of cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. However, there can be exceptions to this. Approximately 5% of the users might have side effects and react in an unfavorable way to CBD. Usually, it’s the same group of people who reacts unfavorably to substances like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. What is recommended is that whenever you take any new supplement, including CBD oil, you must do it safely under supervision.
Something very important is to make sure the product you’re purchasing is tested by third-party labs for quality assurance. You must know that the FDA doesn’t regulate the CBD products, so it’s possible that the product you buy might be less potent or contain THC.

But what we have to be clear about is that the Cannabis Sativa plant has two main species: marijuana and hemp. While both contain CBD, there’s a much higher percentage of CBD in hemp, which at the same time has a very low level of THC (less than 0.3%). However, when we hear about hemp oil, it refers to the oil that it’s extracted from the hemp seed. Hemp oil doesn’t contain any cannabinoids. Hemp oil, though, is full of healthy fats and it’s frequently used in skincare products, due to its moisturizing benefits.
What’s the best way to take CBD Oil?
That’s something that really depends on what you want to get from CBD and what are you taking it for.
For example, some people don’t want to take it orally, so they will choose topical CBD, in the form of a lotion or cream. That can be applied to the skin and get relief in muscles, joints, and ligaments.
You can also vape CBD oil, which produces the fastest effect, but the least lasting too. The effect through vaping will be delivered in 10 minutes, but it will wear off in about two hours.
If you’re okay with taking CBD oil orally, you have the option of tinctures and edibles. They take a bit longer to work (more than half an hour) but the effects last four or five hours. The tincture is liquid and you put in under your tongue. If you don’t like the flavor, though, you can choose an edible like a gummy, a capsule or some baked product like cookies or brownies. Either way, you will receive the wonderful benefits of CBD.
